LUPE

Pictured above are my mom and my aunt, Hilda, at a monthly meeting for La Union Del Pueblo Entero or LUPE. LUPE is a nonprofit organization that focuses on educating and organizing people of the Valley to advocate for issues that are crucial to their day to day lives such as public lighting, proper drainage and immigration/citizenship classes and consultations. My family has been part of LUPE for about 15 years now. It has been a big part of our lives and we are very involved. I remember being six and leading giant groups of LUPE members on the traditional Farm Worker Prayer which was created by Cesar Chavez, farm worker activist and LUPE founder.
